Point to point, one drop across town
Sell a single ride inside your city, priced on the distance.
Point to point is one ride inside your city: from the address the guest is at, to the address they want. A ride from home to the railway station, or from a hotel to an office.
Guests see it as {guest_p2p}. On the grouped booking form it is Local, then Single drop.
How it is priced
You set a Base fare that covers some km, and a price for each km past that. The distance is the road from the pickup to the drop. The car's drive back is not counted.
You can leave the base fare at 0 and charge only by the km. The fields are in lesson 5.5.
What the guest enters
A pickup, a drop, a date and a time. Both boxes open on your Places list first, with your starred places at the top. The guest can also type any address.
Point to point or one way?
Both are a single drop. The difference is how far.
| Point to point | One way | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | inside your city | to another city |
| Priced | a base fare, then per km | per destination, or per km with a minimum |
| Your rate card | Point to point | Outstation one way |
The two stop each other overlapping:
- A point to point trip longer than 150 km (93 miles) is not priced online. The guest sends an enquiry instead.
- A one way to a place less than 10 km (6 miles) from your city centre is inside the city. The guest is told to try a local ride.
How the fare adds up
Point to point. Sedan: ₹400 covers 10 km, ₹18 a km after. A 22.4 km drop:
The line shows the distance in whole km. The price uses the exact distance, then rounds to the whole unit of your currency.
When the guest gets an enquiry instead
The guest is asked to send the details, and you call back with a fare, when:
- The pickup is more than 75 km (47 miles) from the centre of the city they picked. They see "That pickup is outside the city we priced."
- The ride is longer than 150 km (93 miles). They see "That trip is longer than we price online."
- You have not published a point to point card for that city.
Paid at the end
The price is for the road between the two addresses. Tolls and parking are collected at the end only if you set them to be paid at actuals (lesson 5.7).
Do it
- Open Sell, then What you sell.
- In each city, switch on Point to point.
- Open Rate cards, pick Point to point for the city, and fill in each car (lesson 5.5).
- Click Publish.
Common questions
My dashboard says Point to point, my site says {guest_p2p}. Same thing?
Yes. Your dashboard uses the same names in every country. Your site uses the words guests in your country search for.
The guest wants to stop on the way. What do they book?
A local tour. It takes a start, the places to visit, and a drop (lesson 2.3).
Can I charge a flat price across town?
Yes. Set Covers to more than any ride in your city, and leave Beyond that at 0. Every ride then costs the base fare.
