How the toll is worked out

The route
We find the road between the two places and every toll plaza on it. If there is a second good road, such as an expressway, you see both.

The vehicle
Hatchback, sedan, SUV and Innova pay the car rate. A tempo traveller pays the mini bus rate. A bus pays the bus rate.

The trip
One way pays each plaza once. Back the same day uses the 24 hour return fare. Two days or more pays two singles.

The rate
FASTag rates from the national highway plaza data, each with the date it took effect.

State tax
Named for each state the route enters, with where to pay it. It is not in the total.
Questions, answered.
How much is the toll without a FASTag?
Twice the rate. A vehicle without a valid FASTag pays double in cash at a national highway plaza. The rates on this page are FASTag rates.
Can a taxi use the FASTag annual pass?
No. The annual pass is for private cars, jeeps and vans. A taxi or any commercial vehicle pays the normal rate at each plaza.
Does an SUV pay more toll than a car?
No. At national highway plazas, an SUV, an Innova and a hatchback all pay the same car, jeep and van rate.
Which toll rate does a tempo traveller pay?
The light commercial vehicle rate, also called the mini bus rate. It is higher than the car rate, so pick Tempo traveller to see it.
Is a round trip cheaper if the car comes back the same day?
Yes. Most plazas sell a return ticket that is valid for 24 hours and costs less than two single trips. Ask for it at the first plaza. If the car comes back after 24 hours, it pays two singles.
Why is state tax not in the total?
A taxi going into another state may owe that state a tax. It depends on the state, the seats and the days, and each state works it out differently. Pay it on Parivahan (Online Services, Checkpost Tax) or at the border, and add it to the quote as per actuals.
