Why a car with no price never shows, and the Sold switch
Know when a guest can book a car, and how to stop selling one without losing its prices.
Plan: everyone with a booking site
A guest is quoted a car only when two things are true. The car is sold, and a live rate card gives it a price for what the guest asked.
A car is quoted card by card
Each rate card prices the cars you list on it. A car with no price on a card is never quoted for that card's trips. The card says so: "is not on this list, so it does not appear in a quote here".
So a car can be bookable for airport transfers and missing from round trips, because only the airport card prices it.
Drafts do not count. A price on a draft card reaches no guest. In Vehicles, a car a guest can be quoted says "priced on a live rate card". A car priced only on a draft says "Priced only on a draft or old rate card, so guests are never quoted it." Publish that card (lesson 1.3).
Your site's fleet list
Your site shows your cars to guests. Which ones depends on your prices:
| Your prices | What the site shows |
|---|---|
| Some service still has no live price | Every sold car. A guest can ask for any of them, and gets an enquiry |
| Every service has a live price | Only the cars a live card prices |
When a sold car is left off your site, Sell, Launch has a row: "isn't on your site". Click Add a price to price it.
The Sold switch
Sold is not about stock. It says whether you offer this car to guests at all.
| Sold | What happens |
|---|---|
| On | The car is offered wherever a live card prices it |
| Off | The car leaves every quote and your site. It shows "Not sold" in your list. Its prices are kept |
Switching a car off changes cards you have already published. A live card is frozen, but it skips a car that is not sold. If that car was the only one on a card, the card now quotes nothing at all, and guests get an enquiry.
Switch it back on, and the car comes back on every card that prices it.
Delete or switch off?
A car that has never been on any rate card can be deleted. Once a card has priced it, it cannot be deleted, because old quotes still name it. Switch Sold off instead.
Do it
To price a car that is missing:
- Open Sell, then Rate cards, and open the card.
- Find the car and type its prices.
- Click Publish.
To stop selling a car:
- Open Sell, then Vehicles.
- Switch Sold off on the car's row.
Common questions
I added a car, and it is not on my site.
It has no live price yet. Price it on each card you want it on, and publish.
I added a car, and it is on my site, but guests only get an enquiry for it.
Some service still has no live price, so the site shows every car. Publish your cards (lesson 1.3).
One car is in the garage for a week.
You can leave it on. A class is a kind of car, and another car of that class can do the trip. Switch Sold off only if you cannot send any car of that kind.
I switched a car off and a card stopped quoting.
That car was the only one the card priced. Switch it back on, or add another car to the card and publish.
