Far pickups
Charge for the extra road to a pickup outside the city, or ask those guests for an enquiry.
Your prices start from the centre of your city. Some guests live outside it. Driving out to them costs you road that the fare does not pay for.
Each rate card has one setting for this. It is off until you switch it on. While it is off, every pickup gets the city price, wherever it is.
What the setting does
What happens depends on the service. A service with a price per km adds a line for the extra road. A service with a fixed price cannot, so far guests send an enquiry instead.
| Service | The setting is called | What happens past the distance |
|---|---|---|
| One way | Charge for pickups outside the city | The extra road is added at the car's Per km rate |
| Round trip | Charge for pickups outside the city | The extra road, out and back, is added at the car's Per km rate |
| Point to point, local tour | Charge for pickups outside the city | The drive to the pickup is added at the car's Beyond that rate. A car with no Beyond that rate is left out |
| Hourly | Ask guests outside the city to send an enquiry | The guest sends an enquiry |
| Airport, by place | Ask guests far from the area to send an enquiry | The guest sends an enquiry |
Under the switch is a distance, 15 km unless you change it.
- On a service that charges, it is Ignore detours under. A smaller detour is free.
- On a service that asks for an enquiry, it is Accept pickups online within. A pickup closer than that is priced as usual.
An airport priced by distance needs neither: the guest's own address is already the fare.
How the extra road is measured
- One way. The road from your city to the pickup, plus the pickup to the destination, minus the straight trip. A pickup on the way out costs nothing: the car leaves the city anyway.
- Round trip. The same detour, twice: once going out and once coming home. The free distance counts for each.
- Point to point and local tour. The road from your city centre to the pickup.
- Hourly. The road to the pickup and back.
- Airport by place. The road from the place the guest picked to their address.
Past the free distance, all of the detour is charged, not only the part above it. It is rounded up to the next whole km.
If the guest picked one of your pickup places (lesson 3.3), the road is measured from that place, not from the centre. You listed that place, so you serve it at the city price.
The minimum already pays for some road
A one way with a Min km charges for that distance even on a shorter trip. A detour that fits inside the minimum adds nothing. The same goes for the km a round trip's days include, and the km a point to point fare covers. Only the road past that is charged.
How the fare adds up
Sedan, Per km ₹14, Min km 130. Charge for pickups outside the city is on, Ignore detours under 15 km. A one way from Bengaluru to a town 210 km away.
The pickup is out of town. Going there first adds 23.4 km of road. That is more than 15 km, so all of it is charged, rounded up:
The pickup is just off the road out. The detour is 9 km, under 15 km, so the fare is the same as from the centre:
The new line comes after the drive and before your other charges. Tax and rounding apply to it like the rest of the fare.
What the guest does
On a one way, round trip, hourly booking or airport transfer by place, the guest gives the exact pickup on the Details step, after picking a car. The fare is worked out again from that pickup. If the guest changes the pickup afterwards, the site asks them to check the fare again.
The guest has to pick the address from the suggestions. An address typed by hand has no pin, so there is nothing to measure. With the setting on, that booking comes in as an enquiry.
Common questions
Should I switch it on?
Yes, if you get guests from outside the city. Without it, a guest an hour away pays the same as one in the centre.
What does a far tour package guest pay?
The tour price. A tour is never charged for the drive out. The booking is marked as a far pickup, and you sort out the drive on the call.
What if the maps are down?
The fare is worked out from the centre, as if the setting were off.
