When a guest gets an enquiry instead of a price
Find out why a guest saw no fare, and what to change so the next one does.
Sometimes your site cannot show a fare. It never makes one up. Instead, the guest reads a short reason and clicks Continue without a fare. They give their details, and the booking comes to you as an enquiry with no price. You call back with one.
An enquiry is not lost. But a guest who sees a price books more often. So most enquiries are worth fixing.
Why it happens, and the fix
| What the guest asked for | Why there is no price | The fix |
|---|---|---|
| Any service | No published rate card for that service in that city | Sell, then Rate cards: fill in the card and click Publish |
| Any service | The card is published, but its Live from date has not come yet | Wait, or publish the card with Live from set to today |
| Any service | The card has no price for any car you still sell | Rate cards: give at least one car a price, then Publish |
| An airport | The airport is switched on, but has no published card | Rate cards: pick the airport, fill it in, Publish |
| An airport, by place | The guest's area is not on your list. They picked Somewhere else | Rate cards: add the place to the airport card, with a fare, and Publish. Or switch the card to By distance |
| One way, to a town not on your route sheet | The card has no Per km rate for anywhere else | Rate cards, one way: fill in Per km, or add the town to the route sheet |
| One way or round trip, to a place inside your city | It is a local ride, not a trip out of town | Switch on Point to point in What you sell |
| One way or round trip, to a hotel or a village not on the city list | Pricing to any place is not switched on for your account | Ask PingTab support to switch it on |
| Point to point | The drive is longer than 150 km (93 miles) | Nothing to fix: it is an intercity trip. The guest can book a one way |
| Point to point or local tour | The pickup is more than 75 km (47 miles) from your city centre, or nearer another of your cities | Price point to point in the city the pickup is in. If it is not one of yours, add it in Where you sell |
| Local tour | More stops than Most stops | Rate cards, local tour: raise Most stops |
| Local tour | A stop outside the city, or a loop longer than 150 km (93 miles) | Nothing to fix: it is a day out of town. The guest can book a round trip |
| Hourly or airport by place | The pickup is past Accept pickups online within | Rate cards: raise that distance (lesson 5.9) |
| Point to point or local tour | A far pickup, and no car has a Beyond that rate | Rate cards: give the cars a Beyond that rate |
| Any service with far pickups on | The guest typed the address instead of picking a suggestion | Check Settings, then Maps: with no working Google key, guests type by hand |
| Any service | The maps service was down for a moment | Nothing to fix |
No price and no enquiry
A few answers stop the guest. They cannot send an enquiry, because you could not serve it anyway.
| What the guest sees | Why | The fix |
|---|---|---|
| "The earliest pickup is ..." | The pickup is sooner than your Minimum notice before pickup | Rate cards: lower the notice, if you can really get a car there sooner |
| "We do not serve that area yet." | The service is switched off in that city, the city is not yours, or the airport is switched off | Switch it on in What you sell, add the city in Where you sell, or switch the airport on under Airports you serve |
| "That tour is not available." | The tour package has no published price | Publish the tour's prices in Packages |
Find them before a guest does
Open Sell, then Launch. If something you sell has no price, a row says "places have no published price", and names them. Click Publish your prices.
A car with no price is left off your site. The same page tells you which car "isn't on your site", with an Add a price button.
Common questions
Where do enquiries go?
To Leads, like every booking. The lead has the guest's trip and no fare.
Is an enquiry ever the right answer?
Yes. A trip you only price on the call, like a long tour, is fine as an enquiry. Fix the ones you meant to price.
I published, and a guest still got an enquiry.
Check the card's Live from date, and that the guest's car has a price. Then try the trip on your own site.
