Your own domain

Put your booking site on a name you own, such as book.yourcompany.com, without it ever going down.

Plan: every plan, and during your trial

Your site already has a PingTab address, ending in .trypingtab.com. You can also put it on a name you own, such as book.yourcompany.com. Your PingTab address keeps working the whole time, and after.

Which name to use

NameWhen to use it
A subdomain, such as book.yourcompany.com or www.yourcompany.comThe simplest, and it always works. Use it if you already have a website on your main domain: that site stays where it is
The bare domain, yourcompany.comPossible, but not every DNS company allows it. If yours does not, use www and forward the bare domain to it

A site holds one domain, plus the www version of the same name if you want both.

Three steps, shown on your domain's row

You add a few records where your domain's DNS is managed. That is usually the company you bought the domain from. PingTab shows the exact records, each with its own Copy button.

StepWhat happens
1. Prove the domain is yoursAdd the TXT records shown, then press Check again. They change nothing on your current website or email
2. We get your security certificateUsually 5 to 15 minutes. Nothing to do: the page checks by itself
3. Point your domain to your siteAdd the CNAME record shown. It unlocks only once the certificate is ready, so visitors never see a security warning

The row's label tells you where it stands: Waiting on DNS, Getting certificate, Certificate ready, Needs a fix or Live.

Once it points at your site, it becomes your main address: the one Google shows and shared links use. On a subdomain this happens when you press Check again. On a bare domain, click Make this the main address once the domain opens your site.

Only add records

Never delete or edit a record you did not add. Your email lives in the same list. If the DNS company says a record with that name already exists, it is usually an old one pointing at a previous site: edit that one record, and touch nothing else.

Do it

  1. Open Sell, then Domain.
  2. Under Add a domain, type the name, such as book.yourcompany.com, with no https:// and no slash. Click Add domain.
  3. Copy each TXT record into your DNS company's records page. Press Check again.
  4. Wait for the certificate. The page checks by itself.
  5. Add the CNAME record shown in step 3. Press Check again until the row says Live.

Common questions

Will my site go down while I do this?

No. Your .trypingtab.com address keeps working the whole time. Nothing moves until you add the CNAME.

It still says Waiting on DNS. What now?

DNS changes can take minutes or a few hours. Press Check again. The row says which record it cannot see yet, or if a value is wrong.

What do I type in the record's name box?

Most DNS companies show your domain next to the box: type only the part in front, such as book. Some want the full name. For a bare domain it is usually @.

I use Cloudflare for DNS.

Set the CNAME to DNS only (the grey cloud), not proxied.

Do I need to publish?

No. A domain is live as soon as it works.

Can I change domains later?

Yes. Click Remove on the old one, then add the new one. Your PingTab address never goes away.

Can you do it for me?

We can walk you through it on a call. Never send us your DNS or registrar password.
