Get found on Google
Set the words Google shows for your site, write your own pages, and measure what guests do.
Plan: everyone with a booking site. Meta Conversions API: Advanced plan.
Guests find a cab by searching, such as "Bengaluru airport taxi". Your site already has a page for each city and service you sell, made for you. This lesson is about the three places that help Google show those pages: Search, Pages, and Tracking and ads.
Search: how your home page shows on Google
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Target phrase | The search you most want to win. One phrase, the way a guest would type it |
| Home page title | The blue line Google shows. Leave it blank to use the default |
| Home page description | The grey lines under it |
| Business details | Your office address, opening hours, your Google Business Profile link and your social profiles. Google reads these to know you are a real local business |
| Share image | The picture shown when someone shares a link to your site |
How it could look on Google shows your title and description as a search result. A short checklist says if your target phrase is in the title and the description. It is advice only: you can save either way.
Search settings are live as soon as you click Save. There is nothing to publish.
Pages: your own words on the pages Google finds
Your site makes a page for each city, each service, and each city with a service. Each one has its fares already. In Pages, you can add your own words to any of them:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Target phrase | The search this page should win |
| Heading and Introduction | The first words on the page. Leave blank to keep the generated ones |
| Search description | The lines Google shows under the page's title |
| The page body | Your own text, under the fares. Questions guests ask go in as Question and answer blocks |
Click Save draft to keep your words, or Publish to put them live. Take off the site puts the generated words back, and keeps yours as a draft.
Start here suggests the pages most worth writing first.
Guides
A guide is a page of its own, such as "Best time to visit the hills". Click New guide, give it a title, and click Create draft. Write it, then click Publish. It is added to your sitemap, and a Guides link shows in your site's menu.
A guide's address comes from its title. You can change the address until the first publish. After that it is fixed, so links to it keep working.
Tracking and ads: measure what guests do
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Your measurement id, like G-XXXXXXXXXX. Page views and each booking step are sent to it |
| Meta Pixel | Your pixel id from Meta Events Manager, a number of 15 or 16 digits. The site sends PageView and Lead |
| Meta Conversions API | A token from Meta. PingTab then reports each lead to Meta from our server too, so fewer are lost to ad blockers. Advanced plan |
Paste the id on its own, not the whole code snippet. These are live as soon as you save.
What PingTab does for you
- Every page you sell gets a title, a description and its fares.
- Your sitemap lists every page and guide, and updates as you publish.
- If you have your own domain, only your main address is shown to Google, so your site does not compete with copies of itself (lesson 6.6).
Do it
- Open Sell, then Search.
- Type your Target phrase, then a Home page title and Home page description that use it.
- Fill in Business details, then click Save.
- Open Pages, pick a page under Start here, write an introduction and a few questions, and click Publish.
- To measure visits, open Tracking and ads and paste your Google Analytics id.
Common questions
How soon will Google show my site?
Google decides that, not PingTab. A new site usually takes days to weeks to show for its own name, and longer to rank for a busy search.
Do I have to write every page?
No. Every page already works with the words PingTab made. Write the ones guests search for most first.
What should my target phrase be?
What a guest types, with your city and service in it, such as "Bengaluru airport taxi". One phrase per page, a different one on each page.
I pasted my Analytics code and it says it is not valid.
Paste only the id, such as G-XXXXXXXXXX, not the whole script.
Do I need a Meta Pixel?
Only if you run Meta ads. Google Analytics is enough to see your visits.
